Triangle Homes Spend Less Days on the Market in September

Market Update - September 2015Remember when we told you September would be a great month to buy and sell a home? It certainly was. Reports are in for the previous month highlighting increased home sale activity and a dramatic drop in the average numbers of days a home was listed in Wake and Durham counties.

The Triangle Multiple Listing Service reported that home sale activity in Wake County was up 9.1 percent year-to-date with a total of 1,564 closed home sales. Durham County home sales saw an 11 percent increase over last September with 384 homes sold.

The Triangle market also saw a significant decrease in the average number of days listed homes were on the market. According to a recent Triangle Business Journal article:

“The market for home buyers also continues to get more competitive as the average number of days that a home was listed for sale on the Triangle dropped to 50 days in September from an average 65 days the year prior.

In Wake County, the average days on market dropped to 37 days in September compared to 54 days the year prior. …

In Durham County, the average days on market dropped to 46 days in September compared to 64 days the year prior. …”
